Location:

Situated on Adler Street in the vibrant East End, The Corner London City Hotel enjoys an excellent location for visitors wanting to experience a slightly different side of London. The hotel sits within easy walking distance of Aldgate East Underground station, which makes getting around the city quick and convenient. From there, the London Underground connects to central London attractions in minutes.
Arrival and check-in:

We had arrived by main line train into London Kings Cross station and from there just needed to take the Hammersmith & City Line eastbound to Aldgate East Station, taking just 15 minutes. It was then just a three minute walk though a small park to reach the The Corner London City Hotel.

The hotel lobby is a welcoming area with a modern, eco-conscious ethos and contemporary style that reflects its East London location. Instead of the formal, traditional reception desks you might expect in larger hotels, the atmosphere felt more informal and friendly.

It’s possible to check-in on one of the self service screens but as no-one else was waiting at the reception desk we opted for a personal experience. After having our dinner reservation confirmed we were soon taking one of the lifts up to our room on the second floor.
The room:

The hotel offers three room categories — Snug, Cosy, and Plush — each designed with smart layouts that maximise the available space. We had been booked into one of the Plush rooms which are the largest option available and it felt very spacious indeed. The room featured a comfortable king size bed along with a sofa, making it a practical option for accommodating a third guest if required. The room boasted large floor to ceiling windows allowing plenty of natural light to flood the room.

The hotel’s commitment to sustainability and creative design is evident throughout. There is a strong emphasis on up-cycling with lamps cleverly fashioned from old hose pipes, and tables created from repurposed workbenches. These details give the room an industrial yet stylish feel that reflects the character of the surrounding East London neighbourhood.

A particularly distinctive feature is the hotel’s unique pod-style Qbic headboard, positioned behind the bed. This structure cleverly incorporates the stylish bathroom behind it, creating a striking design element while also making efficient use of space. The bathroom area includes a large walk-in shower with good water pressure, large fluffy towels and eco-friendly toiletries from Be Kind, which aligns perfectly with the hotel’s sustainability ethos. Guests staying more than one night can opt out of having their rooms cleaned and instead enjoy a voucher for a free drink in the bar.
Dining:

Dining at The Corner London City Hotel takes place in the open plan relaxed Kitchen restaurant that matches perfectly the hotel’s informal atmosphere. We chose to have dinner at the hotel on our first evening, enjoying hearty classic dishes of steak and chips and minted lamb cutlets. Both our mains were well prepared and of a generous size which was just what we needed after a day exploring the city.

The restaurant also offers a selection of wines available by the glass or bottle which are reasonably priced for London making it perfect to enjoy a relaxed meal.

Breakfast the following morning included a wide range of options such as pastries, fruit, yoghurt, cereals and hot items, along with plenty of fresh coffee which was the perfect start before heading out for the day.
Facilities:

The lobby doubles as a casual social space where guests can relax, work or enjoy a drink with board games and easy to connect to Wi-Fi readily available. A particularly thoughtful feature is that each floor has its own tea and coffee making station, available free for guests to use throughout their stay. It’s a simple but very welcome addition. Mugs are provided in rooms and it was just as easy to pop along the corridor to make our drinks as to have a kettle in the room.
Out and About:
One of the biggest advantages of staying at The Corner London City Hotel is how easy it is to explore the surrounding neighbourhood.

Just a short walk away is Brick Lane, a lively street known for its colourful street art, vintage shops and buzzing food scene. Nearby Whitechapel Gallery offers a cultural highlight, showcasing contemporary art exhibitions throughout the year. My favourite spot though is an easy walk along to Old Spitalfields Market which is a must-visit destination.

Nowadays, this historic covered market is packed with independent retailers, artisan goods and lots of tempting cafes and street food outlets.
Overall:

Our stay at The Corner London City Hotel was thoroughly enjoyable. The hotel combines modern comfort with a strong commitment to sustainability and creative design. The hotel’s quirky, creative design resonates perfectly with the surrounding East London neighbourhood, reflecting the artistic and slightly edgy character of nearby Brick Lane. For guests looking for a modern, reasonably priced, eco-friendly hotel with personality and a great location, it’s a wonderful choice.
