Hoburne Cotswold Holiday Park is located within the scenic Cotswold Water Park at South Cerney, Gloucestershire comprising Hoburne Cotswold and the recently opened Cotswold Reach where we had been invited to stay.

Getting there:

We found it very easy to reach the Hoburne Cotswold Holiday Park from the north as we just needed to leave the M5 motorway at Junction 11A before joining the A417 towards Cirencester. For guests arriving from the south, I suggest taking the M4 motorway to Junction 15 before following signs to Cirencester.

Arrival and check-in:

Check-in time begins from 3.00 p.m. and as our arrival was before 4.00 p.m. we were able to collect our keys from the reception office at Cotswold Reach where our luxury lodge was located. We were greeted with a smile, handed a map with our lodge clearly marked and given a quick overview of the restaurant and other facilities available just across the road on the main site. Guests arriving later in the day are requested to check-in at the main reception before turning in to the Cotswold Reach area.

We moved the car to the designated parking space next to our lodge and were soon stepping inside our home for the next four nights. The entrance hall leads into a useful utility room with plenty of coat hooks, a washing machine, sink and cupboards.

The open-plan living area was to our left and this was attractively styled and even nicer than we had expected. Furnished in neutral tones, the room benefitted from windows to three sides letting in lots of natural light. With two comfortable sofas, a coffee table, large wall mounted television and a reliable Wi-Fi connection, we knew instantly that we were in for a relaxing stay.

The fully fitted kitchen was spotlessly clean with a gas cooker, extractor, large fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave and toaster. The cupboards were stacked with a plentiful supply of high quality pots, pans, crockery, glasses and cutlery making it feel like a home from home for an evening of dining in. The only things missing were a cafetière and egg cups but as I wasn’t sure whether they’d be included or not I’d brought these from home so it wasn’t an issue.

A breakfast bar with a pair of matching high chairs separated the kitchen from the dining area offering lots of useful workspace. The dining chairs were upholstered in the same padded cream fabric as the breakfast bar chairs and as well as utilising the dining table for meals it was also our go to space for our nightly game of Scrabble.

Alongside the spacious living area our luxury lodge boasted two bedrooms, the master with its own en-suite shower room and a second twin room and house bathroom. Both bedrooms were attractively furnished with comfortable beds, matching wardrobes, bedside tables, televisions and ample power sockets.

Beds were dressed in crisp, cotton bedlinen and with soft pillows we were able to fall asleep in seconds. Both bathrooms were lovely and warm and with large, thick towels and good pressure from the shower, were up with those of quality hotels.

Despite our stay being in mid-winter, I did manage to take my morning cup of coffee out onto the furnished terrace one morning which must be a lovey, secluded sun trap in summer.

The Facilities

Whilst our lodge located at Hoburne Reach was a peaceful place to be based, it was only a few minutes walk or a very short drive to access the extensive facilities at the nearby Hoburne Cotswold park.

Dining:

Restaurant, Hoburne Cotswold

The Boathouse restaurant is beautifully positioned right on the edge of the lake with outdoor terrace seating for warmer days. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow natural light to flood the space, and with nautical inspired décor that complements the setting, it’s a welcoming place for couples, families or groups of friends.

The varied menu caters to different tastes, from hearty classics to lighter bites, everything being well-presented and flavourful. Portions were generous without being overwhelming and there were good options for children as well. We both opted for fish and chips which were served piping hot and were very tasty. We didn’t really need a dessert but it was hard to resist a bowl of apple crumble and custard on a winter’s night which was comfort food at its best. Service was friendly and efficient adding to the overall relaxed holiday atmosphere.

Bar Lounge:

The bar lounge offered a cosy vibe and a perfect place for unwinding after a day of activities. Styled with a contemporary feel with comfy sofas alongside tables and chairs, it offers an alternative to dining in the restaurant.

There’s plenty to keep both adults and children entertained. Board games are available for relaxed family fun, while the snooker table provides a great focal point for friendly competition. As Hoburne’s social hub it offers a good balance between chatting with other guests, enjoying a quiet drink or watching major sporting events on the large screen television.

Wellness Centre:

The wellness centre is a real highlight of the park. The indoor pool is spacious and bright, featuring a fun slide and fountain that are particularly popular with children regardless of the weather outside.

For adults seeking relaxation, the sauna and steam room provide a welcome retreat. After a swim, spending time in the sauna felt wonderfully restorative. The gym is well-equipped for holiday workouts and although we didn’t utilise this ourselves it enables guests to maintain a fitness routine whilst on holiday.

Children’s Soft Play Zone:

The indoor soft play area is a splendid addition for families. Bright, safe and well-padded, it gives younger children the freedom to climb, explore and burn off energy. The play zone is especially useful on cooler or rainy days when outdoor activities might not be ideal. Parents can relax nearby while keeping an eye on their little ones, making it both practical and enjoyable. The layout encourages active play while still feeling secure and well supervised.

Outdoors:

The outdoor facilities truly make the most of the beautiful Cotswolds setting. The open-air swimming pool is perfect during warmer weather with a spacious sun terrace offering plenty of room to relax and unwind. It’s easy to imagine spending a full afternoon here with a book and a glass of wine.

Adventure golf adds a fun, competitive element to the stay, being great for all ages. The surrounding lakes provide opportunities for strolling along the lakeside paths, boating or fishing, enhancing the peaceful nature-focused atmosphere of the park.

Out and About:

From Hoburne Cotswold Park, there are plenty of wonderful places to explore nearby. The historic market town of Cirencester is just a short drive away, offering charming streets, independent shops and fascinating Roman history at the Corinium Museum. A little further afield, Malmesbury is perfect for a relaxed day out, where you can visit the stunning Malmesbury Abbey and enjoy the town’s historic atmosphere.

For something different, head to Swindon to explore the fascinating STEAM – Museum of the Great Western Railway, a great family-friendly attraction celebrating Britain’s railway heritage.

Overall:

A stay at Hoburne Holiday Park is perfect for the whole family, offering a relaxing lakeside setting with plenty of activities for all ages to enjoy. Whether you’re exploring the beautiful Cotswolds, making the most of the on-site facilities or simply unwinding together, there’s something for everyone. With dogs welcome too, no family member has to miss out and with a strong Wi-Fi connection throughout the park you can stay connected whenever you need to, making it an ideal choice for fun, comfort and convenience all in one place.

This place is very well put together and fit and finish seem perfect. Love the fish and chips with mushy peas and the giant beer. Comfort food. Happy Wednesday Marion. Allan

So luxury finden wir das nicht. Vom Styling erwarten wir anderes. Da gibt es viele schönere Übernachtungs- und Ferienmöglichkeiten in den Cotswolds.
