Location:
The Courtyard by Marriott Düsseldorf Medien Hafen enjoys an excellent position in Düsseldorf’s vibrant Medien Hafen district, one of the city’s most modern and architecturally striking areas. Surrounded by contemporary office buildings, waterfront promenades, stylish restaurants and bars, the hotel offers a perfect base for both business and leisure travellers.

One of the highlights of staying there is the beautiful harbour setting. The area feels sophisticated yet relaxed, and it’s easy to spend an evening simply strolling along the waterfront and admiring the impressive modern architecture. The city centre and historic Altstadt are easily accessible by public transport or a pleasant 20 minute walk, making the location both scenic and convenient.
Arrival and Check-in:

Our arrival experience set a positive tone for the entire stay. The reception area was welcoming, bright and modern, while the receptionist on duty was very friendly, professional and efficient, checking us in speedily.

Everything was handled smoothly and we were quickly provided with information about the hotel, breakfast arrangements and local attractions. The staff were particularly helpful in discussing the various events taking place around the city during our stay, which was especially useful as we had planned our visit around the famous Japan Day celebrations.
The Room:

We stayed in an eighth floor harbour view room which was delightful. Our room was spacious, modern and thoughtfully designed. Large windows provided wonderful natural light during the day while also offering spectacular views across the harbour. From our elevated position, we enjoyed stunning views towards the Rheinturm, one of Düsseldorf’s most recognisable landmarks. The sight of the tower illuminated in the evening, reflected across the water, created a particularly memorable atmosphere.

The bed was extremely comfortable, ensuring a restful night’s sleep, while the room’s soundproofing was excellent despite the lively surroundings. The bathroom was well appointed with quality toiletries and there was ample storage space for luggage and personal belongings.

Waking up each morning to the harbour views and the striking skyline was a genuine pleasure and added a special touch to the overall experience.
Dining:

Breakfast exceeded expectations and offered an excellent start to each day. The buffet featured a generous selection of hot and cold options, fresh pastries, bread, fruit, cereals and various regional specialities. However, the standout feature was undoubtedly the made-to-order egg station. Freshly prepared exactly to our preferences, the omelettes were delicious and consistently cooked to perfection.

The breakfast team worked hard to keep everything replenished and maintained a welcoming atmosphere throughout service. Good quality coffee and a wide range of juices complemented the food selection well, making breakfast something we looked forward to each morning.
The Facilities:
The hotel offers a good range of facilities that enhance the guest experience without feeling overcrowded or overly busy.

The fitness centre was well maintained providing enough equipment for a workout while travelling. Public areas throughout the hotel were comfortable and immaculately presented, offering plenty of space to relax, work or meet with friends.

Wi-Fi was reliable throughout our stay and the overall standard of cleanliness across the property was consistently high. The hotel offers a good balance between functionality and comfort, making it equally suitable for short city breaks, business travellers and longer stays.
Out and About:
One of the greatest advantages of staying in Düsseldorf Medien Hafen is the wealth of attractions and activities nearby. The Medien Harbour itself is worth exploring, with its fascinating modern architecture, waterside restaurants and lively atmosphere. A walk along the Rhine promenade provides wonderful views and easy access to Düsseldorf’s historic Altstadt, often referred to as “the longest bar in the world” due to its large concentration of traditional pubs and breweries.

During our visit, we had specifically arranged our stay to coincide with Japan Day, one of Düsseldorf’s most celebrated annual events. The city is home to one of the largest Japanese communities in Europe, and the celebrations brought an incredible atmosphere to the streets. Visitors were able to enjoy cultural performances, food stalls, traditional demonstrations and spectacular entertainment throughout the day.

The event culminated in a stunning fireworks display over the Rhine, creating an unforgettable experience and making our stay feel even more special. Being based at the harbour provided convenient access to many of the festivities while still offering a comfortable retreat at the end of a busy day.
Overall:

Our stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Düsseldorf Medien Hafen was thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. The combination of an excellent waterfront location, welcoming service, comfortable accommodation and impressive harbour views made for a memorable city break. The eighth-floor harbour view room with its stunning Rheinturm views was undoubtedly a highlight, while the excellent breakfast, particularly the freshly made omelettes, added further to our experience.

For visitors seeking a modern hotel in a vibrant part of Düsseldorf, whether for sightseeing, business or major events such as Japan Day, this hotel is an excellent choice. and punches way above its weight for a Marriott Courtyard hotel. We would happily return and have no hesitation recommending it to others looking for a comfortable and well located base in the city.
