Location:

The five star Clan Hotel enjoys an exceptional location in the heart of Singapore’s Central Business District. With an MRT station on the hotel’s doorstep, getting around the city is very easy. The surrounding neighbourhood offers a wonderful mix of heritage shophouses, trendy cafés, the Lau Pa Sat hawker centre and modern business towers including CapitaSpring.

Arrival and check-in:

We travelled from Changi Airport by public transport taking the MRT from the airport to Expo Station before changing to the Downtown Line to Telok Ayer Station which has access adjacent to the hotel (Exit D).

Our arrival felt very smooth and relaxing as from the moment we stepped into the lobby, staff were attentive and we received a warm welcome. A special highlight was the welcome tea ceremony led by the Clan Tea Master, complete with carefully curated snacks. This thoughtful ritual created a unique start to our stay, making the experience feel personal and culturally immersive.

We had been booked into one of the hotel’s Grand Premier Rooms which are not only luxurious but very special as check-in takes place directly in the room itself, creating an exclusive and personal experience. This is where we were introduced to our Clan Keeper (personal butler) who remained at our service throughout our stay, ensuring everything ran seamlessly.

Our Grand Premier room was spacious, elegantly designed and thoughtfully laid out. The clean, modern lines with Asian-inspired touches created a calm, luxurious atmosphere. The huge bed was incredibly comfortable and the large windows to two sides provided plenty of natural light and stunning city views. With window seats, a huge television and a top of the range Dyson hairdryer we had everything at hand for a comfortable stay. There was even a switch at the bedside to open and close both the blackout blinds, curtains and to control the lights.

Guests are invited to pre-select five complimentary items before arrival for the minibar, the list included luxury chocolates, drinks and snacks which was a really nice idea.

A particularly memorable moment of our stay was when I requested the Clan Keeper to come up to our room to run a bath for me. She arrived with a small wicker basket containing a range of luxury products for me to select from, ran the bath to the perfect temperature and even left a handwritten note wishing me a relaxing soak. The bath was positioned perfectly in front of floor-to-ceiling windows with stunning city views, making it a truly indulgent experience. Alongside the bath, a separate rain shower and Japanese toilet offered a refreshing spa-like feel.

On our return to the hotel later in the evening a turndown service had taken place with the Clan’s luxurious slippers laid out at the bedside along with a box of osmanthus and oolong chocolates for us to enjoy with our bedtime drinks.

Our breakfast experience at The Clan Hotel was a highlight of our short stay. We headed down to the Qīn Restaurant on Level 4 where we were shown to a window table bathed in sunlight.

We helped ourselves from the superb buffet selection which ranged from fresh tropical fruits and flaky pastries to beautifully presented hot dishes. The optional daily Asian special was served à la carte to our table and this added a delicious, authentic appeal as it was not something we would usually order at that time of day. No breakfast is complete without freshly ground coffee and our barista-made cappuccinos energised us for the day ahead.

The Facilities:

The Clan Hotel Singapore blends modern luxury with thoughtful comforts, especially on its stunning 30th floor rooftop. The infinity pool and jacuzzi overlook the Chinatown skyline, offering a serene escape with some of the best views in the city. We relaxed on the semi-submerged sun loungers taking an occasional dip into the warm pool.

Nearby, the Sky Gym provided everything from full fitness equipment to a Wing Chun wooden dummy for a unique workout. Rather than work-out, we preferred to unwind in one of the stylish lounge areas. A bonus for travellers with late flights is the hotel’s post-checkout suite which make it easy to freshen up after a day exploring Singapore.

The hotel’s central location made it easy to explore nearby cultural districts including Chinatown, and the Telok Ayer area. With ample dining options from hawker stalls to upscale restaurants within walking distance, it’s an ideal base for both sightseeing and business related travel.

Overall:

The Clan Hotel provides a beautifully balanced stay with modern luxury paired with refined heritage-inspired styling. Service was consistently unobtrusive yet efficient, the room was superb and the location couldn’t have been more convenient. We adored our stay so much that we were sad to leave. This says a lot for The Clan, a splendid 5-star boutique experience in the heart of Singapore that definitely lives up to its rating.

Details:

During our stay we were guests of Far East Hospitality and as always, all views and opinions are entirely my own.
